David Ray is a native of Hattiesburg, MS. He is a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi where he received his Masters in Computer Science. Mr. Ray has played the piano since he was ten years old. He also began playing trumpet when he was twelve. Mr. Ray currently teaches at Jones College in Ellisville, MS.
Raised in a family of pianist, it was inevitable that Mr. Ray would grow to love the piano. His grandmother, father, and mother were excellent pianist. While growing up in Hattiesburg and Wesson, Mr. Ray studied under four different piano teachers beginning with Pat Tuley (Hattiesburg) and ending with Joan Harris (Copiah-Lincoln Jr. College in Wesson). Mr. Ray also played trumpet in the marching band while finishing up his degree at Co-Lin. At age fourteen, Mr. Ray began serving as church pianist for multiple churches. He currently serves as pianist for Nineteenth Avenue Baptist church in Hattiesburg.
After graduating from USM, Mr. Ray spent several years in Jackson, MS working semi-professionally as a pianist. He performed nightly at the Iron Horse Grill bar and restaurant as well as playing for numerous churches, parties, weddings, etc. around town.
Currently Mr. Ray enjoys playing at his church and various other local events. He enjoys travelling and spending time with his family. Recently he journeyed back to Jackson to visit the old Iron Horse Grill restaurant and found his old piano upstairs in a museum!
